Electrical Storms In the case of an electrical storm it is best to shut down your computer, unplug your phone line from the back of it (if you have dial up service) and shut off all computer related devices (monitors, speakers, scanners, printers) and even unplug them from the wall. Your "powerstrip" is not a surge protector. Many of our customers have had fried computer modems, phones, answering machines and TVs in recent electrical storms. Just light a candle and write a letter or play a board game. When the fireworks are over you can plug all your cables back in and turn everything back on.
