How to Unclog a Full EMail Box

The Problem
There are a couple of ways that your email account might get clogged up and stop working properly - all of these can be managed

1) Someone sends you a giant email message - these are usually multi-megabyte sized photo attachments from people with a high speed connection. (They don't remember life before highspeed and it's limitations.) Once this happens to you it is a good idea to let that person know you can't handle files of this size so they don't turn around and do it again.

2) You have been out of town or not checking email for an extended period of time.

3) You have your email program set to "leave a copy of messages" on the server - so you download and read messages but they also stay on our mail server taking up room.

4) You use Webmail frequently, but do not clean out your "trash" and "sent" boxes. These boxes also factor into your "box" size.

The Solution
The best way for you to manage this issue is to go into your account using webmail. (If you don't know how to do this see our instructions.) When you get into webmail you are looking directly at your mail on our mail server. You should be able to look through the inbox and delete any large messages or obvious spam. Click on the "sent" items and "trash" boxes and clean them out too. Note: If you click "bypass trash" before you delete a message it gets rid of the message permanently instead of sending it to "trash" which is a separate step.
