XP Dial up Connection
Setting up
a dial up connection
Start
the Internet Connection Wizard
Click on 'START'
in the Task Bar.
Select 'All Programs'.
Select 'Accessories'.
Select 'Communications'.
And click on the 'New Connection Wizard'
1. Choose the third option:
'Manually configure my telephone or network Internet connection'
To continue, click the 'Next' button.

2. Leave the default selection as 'I connect through a phone line
and modem' Now click the 'Next' button.

3. In the field 'What country region are you in now?' choose 'United
States of America (1)' from the drop down box by clicking on
the small arrow to the right of the field. Input the telephone
area code for the area you are dialing from. Ensure 'Tone
dialing' is selected for 'The phone system at this location uses;'
textbox, and press the 'OK' button.

4. Now choose the location you're dialing from by clicking once on the
selection 'My Location' Press the 'OK' button.

5. In the field labeled Telephone number type in 996-4434.
That is your Internet access phone number.
Now remove the check mark from the box labeled 'Use area
code and dialing rules' by clicking once on it. Press the 'Next' button.

6. In the field labeled 'User
name:' type your methownet user name in all lower case
letters. In the field labeled 'Password' type in your password.
You will have been given both of these when you signed up for your dial-up
service. Press the 'Next' button.

7. Now type the name for your
connection 'methownet' , or any other name that you want
to use. Click 'Next' to continue.

Congratulations! You've set up your computer for access through methownet
and are now ready to connect. Simply click on the 'Finish'
button to begin using the Internet.
