Windows ME Dial-up Connection

1) Double click on the Connect to the Internet icon on the desktop to start the Internet Wizard. If you do not see this icon, skip to step 2.

2) Alternately, you can start the Wizard by:
    Clicking on the Start button
          Selecting Programs
               Selecting Accessories
                    Selecting Communications
                          Clicking on Internet Connection Wizard

3) Select the radio button I want to set up my Internet connection manually, ... then click Next

4) Select the radio button I connect through a phone line and a modem, click Next

5) You many or may not see the Location Information screen depending if your computer has been set up for the Internet or not. If this screen appears, enter the following, and click the Close button.
Country/region: United States of America (1)
Area (city) code: 509
Outside line: most cases, leave blank
Select your phone type, Tone or Pulse

6) Enter the following information, and click the Next button.
Area code: 509
Telephone number: 996-4434
Country/region name and code: United States of America (1)
Dial using the area code and country code: make sure box is unchecked

7) Enter the following, and click the Next button.
User name: your User Name (which is just the first part of your email address)
Password: the Password you told us you wanted to use

8) Enter methownet for the Connection name, and click the Next button.

9) Select the Yes radio button to set up your methownet email account, and click the Next button.

10) Enter your Full Name in the Display Name field, and click the Next button

11) Enter your methownet e-mail address, it should be similar to the one shown below; click the Next button.

12) Select POP3 in the pull down menu then enter the following: and click the Next button.
Incoming mail (POP3) server: mail.methownet.com
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.methownet.com

13) Enter the following, and click the Next button.
Account name: Your Methownet User Name it should follow the format of the example below
Password: Your Methownet Password
Remember password: Place a check in the box
DO NOT place a check in the box for Log on using Secure Password Authentication

14) Remove the check mark from the check box To connect to the Internet .... And click the Finish button.

Congratulations! You've set up your computer for access through methownet and are now ready to connect. Simply click on the 'Finish' button to begin using the Internet.
