Below
you will see instructions for setting up an internet connection.
These instructions will work for all Windows operating systems.
We have provided images of what you are likely to see on your computer.
Yours might look a little different or be in a slightly different
order, but for the most part the questions asked and the options
you should choose stay the same.
Open the program Internet
Explorer (the program you use to get on the internet)
Click on the word "Tools" at the top of the page and choose
"internet Options" from the drop down menu'
Once the Internet Options
menu opens, choose the "Connections" tab at the top.
In the Connections menu choose the "Setup" button at the
top of the page.
Clicking the setup button
opens up the New Connection Wizard - which looks like the panel below.
Choose "Next" at the bottom.
You are then asked what you would like to do - choose "Connect
to the Internet" and then click "Next".
When asked how you would like to connect choose "Set up my Connection
Manually" and then click "Next".
When asked how you want
to connect to the internet choose "Connect using a Dial-up Modem"
and then click "Next".
Type in "methownet" as your ISP name
Type in the phone number 996-4434
Type in the user name and account name you were provided. Choose this
account as the default connection and the account to use when anyone
logs onto the internet form that computer.
We covered this, but sometimes they ask again - somewhat forgetful
here. Choose "anyone's use and click "Next".
Yahoo, you're done,
go ahead and choose to add a shortcut to your desktop.
Congratulations! You've
set up your computer for access through methownet and are now ready
to connect. Simply click on the 'Finish' button to begin using the
Internet.
