Windows 98 Configuration for New Users This tutorial is for you that have bought a new PC, and have yet to configure it for use with any Internet Service Provider, and are intending to use the methownet dial-up system as the primary means of network access from your home. Make New Connection under Dial-Up Networking 1. Double-click on My Computer, then Dial-Up Networking.
2. Double-click on Make New
Connection. Enter Methownet as
the name . Select your Modem from the pull down menu
3. Enter the Methownet
Access Number 996-4434. Leave the Area code blank unless
you plan on using this account outside of the 509 area code. Click Next.
4. Click on Finish. 5. Now continue with the following...
IMethownet connection Properties
window will open, and look like the image below. 2. Click on the Server Types
tab. Uncheck Log on to network
and make sure ONLY TCP/IP is checked under Allowed
network protocols. 3. Click on the TCP/IP Settings
tab Make sure that the Specify name server addresses button is selected, and enter these addresses as the primary and secondary DNS numbers. 64.146.161.164 4. Click on the Scripting
and Multilink tabs and make sure they are blank.
5. Then click OK until you are back to the Dial-Up Networking folder. Now you are ready to connect
to Methownet. To connect to Methownet
